when you (i) sit and reflect on what has been and what is, i cannot help but to think about formation. how did we get to where we are? how are we going to get to where we think we need to be?
building, shaping, nudging, cultivating a culture... a community... is the most difficult, stressful, BEAUTIFUL, life giving adventure that i have ever been a part of. i think that is one of our biggest callings in following christ - to be a culture creator. one who creates the culture around them through and with their lives.
its easy to build a "program" that people attend, which by the way is not bad nor wrong... depending on the lens through which you look. if more people attending equates to more health for you, probably not a bad thing then.
but what if you really are one of the those people who are interested in more than just mere numbers?
building PEOPLE that build people and building a CULTURE that builds people are high callings in ones lives. its no wonder why many people opt for the program over the people... less time, less mess, less risk, etc. this is one of the great mirages.
build people... the investment will pay out (eventually) more depth, fullness, richness, authenticity.
Be patient... don't miss the small victories along the way.
